KHK Modular Belting

Plastics today are used in the composition of various items. Plastics used for conveyor belts must meet very high requirements in terms of strength, temperature resistance, hygiene and also in respect of simplicity of repair and replacement. Extensive research in this field, especially with regard to the use of this material in the manufacture of conveyor belts has lead to a number of plastic panels (Modular Belt types). The KHK Modular Belt was developed for the handling of a variety of products. The belts are suitable for use in both industrial industries and direct food handling applications. The belts are manufactured in two main compounds, firstly a heavy industrial belt being composed of a special nylon glass filling, which allows for good wear resistance and chemical stability. Secondly a light industrial food grade belt which is composed of polypropylene (FDA approved), this belt has good chemical stability and is excellent for direct food conveying applications as well as any chemical products.

Belt specifications

All panels for the In-line Belt are available in perforated or solid finish, while the tapered panels for the Curved Conveyors are available only in solid finish. For incline and decline belt applications, we supply a flight panel with a vertical pitch of 30mm, these panels are inserted into the belt at various intervals depending on the size of the goods to be conveyed. The panels have a thickness of 9mm and a longitudinal pitch of 30mm. The connecting rods are stainless steel for the heavy industrial belt and food grade acetyl for the light industrial polypropylene belt. The connecting rods are held in place on either end of the belt by means of grub screws. In order to dismantle the belting, these grub screws can easily be taken out and the connecting rods can then be removed. This simple operation facilitates subsequent lengthening or shortening of the belt, and in the event of damage to the belt easy replacement of panels is possible.

The Modular Belt can be supplied in any width, starting in increments of 100mm on In-line Conveyors and in increments of 200mm on Curved Conveyors. The In-line panels are available in lengths of 100, 200 and 400mm, these are inter-locked in a formation thereby giving you any width of belt required. The tapered panels used in the Curved Belt come in various sizes according to the required inner radius and belt width. The weight of the belting is 8kg per m2. The underside of the panels is provided with stiffening ribs between the hinges. These ribs increase both the tensile and impact strength of the panels and also ensure an even distribution of the load on the belt support. The permissible tension of the In-line Belting is 750N (75kg) per 100mm width.
